Our History

The Maple Ridge Amateur Boxing Club (MRABC), a BC registered non-profit Society, is over 50 years old. It is currently under the direction of four dedicated volunteer coaches who have all competitively boxed with the MRABC as youth/young adults and returned years later to give back to their community. The club was previously under the direction of the late Carol Skanks and the late John Skanks. John was inducted into the Ridge Meadows Hall of Fame in 2004 and received the Harold Mann Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 for his coaching, mentorship and commitment to many young athletes in this community.

MRABC has produced many top boxers, some of which have received international recognition. The club has been represented provincially, nationally and around the world including Italy, Hungary, Moscow, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Finland and Germany.
