ABOUT MRBC
MRBC is open Monday - Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for recreational and competitive training. The gym is located in the same building as the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and can be found just left of the main entrance. We believe boxing teaches self reliance, self discipline and a sense of achievement through successfully bettering of personal bests. It teaches balance; what is demonstrated in action must be first recognized in the mind.
ABOUT AMATEUR BOXING
Amateur boxing is nothing like what Hollywood projects, but a well regulated sport with safety a priority, followed by improved personal conduct. To fight competitively, boxers must be 9 years and up. They must have a doctors certificate to start the program. On the day of their competition each competitor must pass a medical exam and the match is continuously monitored by a doctor. Amateur boxers also wear protective equipment, head gear and gloves that must meet international approval.
